The Order of Assassins - more popularly known as the Hashshashin, Hashashin, or Hashshāshīn - were an iconic and frequently misunderstood group, romanticized and vilified in equal measure. They were a constant thorn in the side of the Sunni establishment, and found themselves unlikely allies in the Crusaders, who also fought against the Sunni lords of the region.
