WI: No Great Migration

I have a feeling white supremacist are going to fight harder against civil rights in an OTL where a state might go under black control. Butterfly's are large, the white population might even flee into neighboring states not wanting to live under black rule.

Mississippi is a good example of this- to this day it would just take a 5% increase in the black population to flip Mississippi.

Wasn't one of the key reasons for the Great Migration the demand for cheap labour in the booming industrial cities up North, which could no longer be met with immigration? In which case keeping the US open to immigrants would help, though that raises political challenges of its own.

I made my statement. And I've dealt with you before. I'd rather not have another message from CalBear, thank you.
Well, you are getting another message from me.

Get squared away, figure out the sort of discussion this Board permits, and stick with it.

If this is some lame effort to get Banned in order to build cred somewhere, just do us all a favor, save our time, and yours, and ask for a perma-Ban.

If it isn't see ya' in 7.

Northern cities like Chicago, New York, etc. wouldn't need to pander to minorities, so politics would evolve differently up North.

They already did have active minorities in politics or immigration would have brought minorities in, like Irish Americans, ethnic whites, Catholics, Arab-Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanics, etc.

The idea of "white flight" equivalent to the Migration is overblown. Don't forget, OTL, blacks were fleeing not only racism & Jim Crow but actively being put back into functional indenture, & slavery, by labor laws & prisoner "sales". Whites weren't.

As for impact, how about culturally? You've buggered the history of blues, without blacks in St. Louis, Chicago, NYC, & elsewhere, bringing their music to white audiences (& mixing it). You've also buggered R&R pretty nicely, for the same reasons.

You may've butterflied the creation of NAACP. Maybe ACLU, too. You've wiped out the Harlem Renaissance.

You probably wiped out the Apollo Theatre & the Cotton Club; how many acts, black & white, owe their start to one or the other? (Not least, IIRC, Buddy Holley & The Crickets...)

So what does the U.S. look like without Big Band music, Western Swing, Elvis, & Buddy Holley?:eek::eek:
