WI: No Fascist Italy

How? Umm, Mussolini dies of a heart attack, and/or the king violently crushes any attempts at a Fascist Revolt just like with Socialists.

Does this butterfly WW2 in Europe at least? Or does this just mean Nazi Germany, or some equivalent, may just fight Italy instead? Will this affect Japan at all?

I'm not 100% sure that no Mussolini butterfly away Hitler, but surely it make things harder for him and other right wing parties as the italian example of takeover embolded others, and not many in Rome will see the Anshluss very well as Austria was seen as a buffer against Germany.
Big change for Spain as it's difficult that any other goverment in Italy will give Franco so much help; Abyssinia can be still invaded after all between past bad blood and cronic instability of the region many things can happen

I don't think the removal of fascism in Italy necessarily alters the rise of the Nazis. The butterflies from the disappearance of fascism would not directly impact the Weimar Republic's politics in the early 1920s one way or the other.

What might happen without the example of Mussolini is that Hitler focuses on the idea of coming to power through force. Rather than take Mussolini as an example what if he looks to the Bolsheviks? They were able to seize power despite being a small extremist fraction. Hitler might believe the path to power is to build a political party and military extension of the party and launch a coup attempt.

This is a path that he might have followed using Rohm and the SA. If he went down this road the military certainly would have opposed him. To the generals having Rohm in charge of the them would be pure anathema. If Hitler tries a violent overthrow he and all his followers likely fail and end up dead or in exile.
