WI No Eurovision Song Contest!

Actually, Ireland's victories in this contest in the 1990s particularily helped us to project ourselves as a modern first world nation to the world and no longer a theocratic state run by imbeciles! There would also be no Riverdance phenomenon! It Sexed Ireland up!:D

Well, for Ireland I'm glad, but for my sake the it need not exist.
So much money, time and space wasted on it every year.
It does not bring countries together, the voters only vote for the neighbouring countries, the largest countries automatically goes to the next round due to viewers and so on.

I see the point behind it, but I think all that time, energy and money could be used a different and more constructive way for integration.

How would this affect us? Perhaps less cultural awareness about other countries in Europe, a lot of celebrities would never achieve that status due to no competition.

Well, the world would have been spared Dana International last year, and in 1998 (when this song won the contest, and resulting in a a transsexual becoming a national hero):

On the other hand, you wouldn't get moments like this:

Classic Eurovision...
Not that I mind Israel joining in on the madness, but what is the reason for it?
There are some other countries as well that participate but is not geographically in Europe, aren't there? Khazakstan, Azerbadsjan and others?

Again, I must stress, I don't mind at all. For me it's like what Bill Hicks said about the army; "anyone dumb enough to want to join it, should be allowed in"

As Italian, I found really interesting how many across Europe are interested in a song contest like Eurovision. In a certain way, I'm not against it, because it is always a way to promote European integration, but in another I'm not fund of it; probably, because it's an European replica of Sanremo, and generally for an Italian is it already enough, for various reasons I prefer survey. I neither not care about the fact Italy in exchange for its return obtained the right of direct access to the final, in a (poor) attempt to attract audience here...

We wouldn't have as many things to complain about losing at. It'd be a worse place!

Plus, there may be no Trololol guy. Apparently he was spawned bt the Soviet version of Eurovision.

Less space wasted with that one guy asking about alt-Eurovision results in Drew's TL.

I don't consider that a waste of space, since Eurovision would be quite different in Drew 70s near-dystopia. (though after the return of nukes one thing I expect to remain the same)

Besides, Abba, Celine Dion became famous due to her 1988 Eurovision win in the non-French-speaking world, so her career might be restricted to Francophone countries. This probably means no 'My Heart Will Go On' for the movie Titanic.
