i've finally more or less decided on what i want to do with my ASB ATL concerning the OTL period of the English Civil War. now that i've done that, i want to look at what would happen after this.
for my ASB ATL, i decided that the English Civil War doesn't break out, but division between Parliamentarians and Royalists still rises. there's some violence (which is relatively common between opposing political factions throughout history anyway), but--again--open war does not take place. the "conflict" formally begins in 1644 and is generally fought with words rather than steel or gunpowder, but brawls break out in Parliament several times. after *Charles I passes away, his son takes over and concedes "victory" to the Parliamentarians, ending absolutism in Britain and reforming the country into a constitutional monarchy shortly after his ascension in 1665.
how does everyone think this would affect English history from that point onward?
