Well then, the big thing will be the Chrysler Building. Hm...we do lose a really cool bit of architecture though and what is, in my opinion, quite a nice-looking building.
Thing is, when the Chrysler Building opened is was full, or mostly full, and I think it took the Empire State Building twenty or so years to reach full capacity.

I've read that the first Waldorf-Astoria Hotel was on the site the Empire State Building later occupied. One of the co-owners, John Jacob Astor IV, went down on the Titanic. Perhaps if he'd'v'e lived, the land would never have gone to the group that built the ESB.
