WI: No Empire State Building

Thing is, when the Chrysler Building opened is was full, or mostly full, and I think it took the Empire State Building twenty or so years to reach full capacity.

Might have something to do with the fact that the Empire State Building opened during the Great Depression, while the Chrysler Building opened before that.

Empire State Building

I've read that the first Waldorf-Astoria Hotel was on the site the Empire State Building later occupied. One of the co-owners, John Jacob Astor IV, went down on the Titanic. Perhaps if he'd'v'e lived, the land would never have gone to the group that built the ESB.

The extras on my King Kong (1933) DVD claim that Yankee Stadium was considered as a locale for the film's climax, before switching to the ESB.

Hmm, a possible butterfly from a "Titanic doesn't sink" TL. I like it!
