WI No "East of Suez" withdrawal?

This would assume a Tory victory in 1963-4, but what would be required for said scenario?

An infinate pot of money?

No really a stable politically bound commonwealth and a Britain that is wealthy enough to afford those commitments; most likely you'd need a POD at least before WW2

Well, at least keep the Far Eastern garrisons and a joint ops base in South Africa. The latter's crucial for my next TL...

Not that far back but to make it practical you would need a better performing British economy or a better organised military.

No, just no Harold Wilson...

I have read that the Cabinet were against an East of Suez withdrawal, except for that prat Wilson. Being PM, he 'counted the voices' and made the decision that he was the majority. We've been paying for that piece of folly ever since.

Imperial PMs: my favorite kind. Thatcher and Blair were the same. BTW, this will be helpful for a TL on the distant horizon...
