WI: No Dissolution of the Monasteries in England?

As it says on the tin. Is this possible after Cromwell has effectively become Prime Minister? (Yes, I realise this is anachrostic, but it does summarise effectively Cromwell's role in court)

Henry VIII is going to have to find a solution for his money problems then, and quick. The dissolution was not just motivated because of the Act of Supremacy; the Monasteries had a lot of wealth that Henry VIII was eager to lay his hands on. His father had left a plump treasury, but Henry VIII had quickly spent it on war with France and his opulent renaissance court. Dissolving the monasteries and claiming their wealth was a short term solution for England's financial woes--after all, both Edward VI and Mary dealt with money problems, and Elizabeth inherited a virtually bankrupt England.

He could end up selling titles, alienating crownlands etc if he does not

You could thus see a plethora of dukes

Possible, but my gut is to say that this is unlikely. religion in this case isn't a particularly important issue. The thing is, Henry's treasury is rather depleted, and he needs more. The monasteries are among the wealthiest institutions in England, and Henry saw an opportunity. So, lets say that he leaves them alone. maybe he coopts them, maybe he's angling for a possible return to catholocism at a later date if he and the papacy ever patch things up. His finances could still use a cash infusion, but where can he find one?
