WI No Crimean War

Let's say Tsar Nicholas I doesn't send his armies against the Ottomans in 1853, due to him not feeling as confident in protecting his flank as IOTL. Perhaps this is due to a more active Austrian Empire sitting beside him, perhaps an earlier united Germany (1848), perhaps its simply stronger threats of a British and French intervention; regardless the war never happens.

The war is considered one of, if not the, first 'Industrial War' as it saw widespread use of railways and the telegraph, as well as modern battlefield medicine, trenches and blind artillery barrages, and was one of the first wars to feature war correspondents. However the war also showed the many flaws in the militaries of the both sides of the conflict, and led to great reorganizations of both the Russian and British armies.

So what are the short-term and long-term implications if the war is averted? And what if a war involving Russia breaks out a decade later, during or after the January Uprising?

The rot that was exposed by the Crimean War goes unaddressed until whenever they are forced into a conflict with a major power. I think that a Prussia that comes out well from the 1848 revolutions (Possibly uniting northern Germany, if not all of it) would be eager to exploit any rebellion in Poland, and I don't know how Austria would react. They'd most likely side against Prussia, I think, which could bring in the Ottomans in on the Prussian side, and go from there into a general European war.

The screw-driven ship-of-the-line would have a longer lifespan

Sardinia is not going to be in as good a position as per OTL if anything breaks out in Italy

Russia remains the unknown colossus in the party and constantly on the point of intervening in something or other

Bumping this from the grave in light of the '1857 Indian Rebellion Succeeds' thread. In an ATL with no Crimean War, how do things play out differently in India during the Sepoy Mutiny? The British don't have the large army of veterans, nor have they started to modernize and reorganize what fighting force they do have.
