WI no computers?

What would be the effects on society / history if computers were never invented? What would turn out differently?

I know that things like the internet, SatNavs, and video games would never be invented as a result. But how might 20th and 21st Century history be altered?

E.g.

Could the enigma code be cracked without computers?

Can the space race happen without computers?

Well you wouldn't be posing this question for starters, nor would anyone be responding to it ;)

Define computers, the electronic kit in front of us now or the very early mechanical adding machines?

Less unemployment as companies employ LOTS of clerks/typists to do the tedious stuff that computers do nowadays for starters. Healthier leisure activities (in place in sitting in front of a monitor for endless hours). Not neccesarily a healthier population though, as no internet = less rapid dissemination of information, so slower medical research/breakthroughs.

Bloodier wars, no smart weapons = more friendly casualties. So maybe less warfare overall?

It would simply take longer to do things.

As someone who lived prior to the internet, the advantage of computers is not what you can do, but how fast you do it.

Everything takes longer, by hours, days, or weeks, depending on what you are trying to do.
