WI No Chiang Kai-shek?

Without Chiang Kai Shek, the Northern Expedition wouldn't occur as OTL. If (and a big if) the more leftist Wang Jingwei reunites the KMT, he may be more tolerant of Communist elements and will at least intend to undertake a more socialist Nanjing Decade. If he's successful and assuming he doesn't crack down on the Commies, the CPC will have been co-opted into the government rather than reinventing itself as a rural peasant party. The PoD may be too late to prevent the invasion of Manchuria, but the Wang government would have had some industrial capacity when full-blown war broke out.

In retrospect it was a strategic mistake for Chiang to crack down on Commies in 1927.
