WI: No Case Blue?

Sort of in the same vain of "No Spring Offensive", what if Hitler decides to forgoe the 1942 Offensive into the Caucuses and decides dig-in within the gains he already has.

1. How defensive is the line established after the Soviet Winter Offensive?

2. Could Germany survive economically with what they had?

If that's the case, you posted the wrong map as it does show the results of the 1942 offensives into the Caucuses.

1. How defensive is the line established after the Soviet Winter Offensive?

For Summer 1942 it will be adequate enough. But as the Soviets manage to gear up better then OTL as a function of being able to peaceably do so, in the autumn-winter it will rapidly become inadequate. Time favors them, not the Germans. By '43, the Soviets will be well-positioned to roll over it.

2. Could Germany survive economically with what they had?

No.
