WI No Caliphate of Cordoba

Suppose the Abbassids would have been successful in killing off all of the Umayyads, or that none of the surviving Umayyads never makes it to al-Andalus for some reason, what would the effect be on Europe and the Muslim world?

Without the Caliphate of Cordoba, would the presence of the Muslims in Spain have been weaker than in OTL, or wouldn't it make much of a difference?

And what would the effect be on the political developments in the Mediterranean?

After all, the Umayyads of Cordoba were the main rivals of the early Fatimids...

I dunno.

Mostly, I think the Caliphate helped unify a fractious society, and witout it it would fall apart earlier. This, in turn, would lead to an earlier reconquista.
