WI: No Auguste Comte

What if Auguste Comte, the man who created positivism and sociology, was never born? How would the landscape of the world and human sciences look like today?

Now that i asked it, let me ride this kaiju-butterfly

Latin America in general would be completely different. Many of the late 19th to early 20th century modernization programs in various countries, with varying degrees of implementation, were inspired by Comtean positivism. Without that, it just got a whole lot harder. No Brazilian Republic, too - many of the people who brought on the Old Republic were also infused with Comtean positivist ideas and saw republicanism as the ideal vehicle to bring about order and progress.

I would not have had to repeat my first semester of sociology at varsity and would've graduated on time? :)

That said, considering that Comte came after Saint-Simon, I'm not sure if Comte not existing would've necessarily meant no sociology.
