WI: No AH.com

Well, my life would've probably been rather different.

Before I discovered AH.com, I primarily frequented anime-related forums. My membership here helped me branch out and "de-anime" my interests a bit, while also expanding my interest in history and honing my political opinions. While I had an interest in timelines, without a venue to post my ideas I probably would've never written A Revised History of the Future - and, as a result, I'd still have unrealistic concepts about technological advancment and cultural change (just take a look at my first AH.com TL to see how far I've come). Without AH.com I wouldn't have discovered the Worldwar series as early as I did, which butterflies away my Race ISOT story (I discovered the ISOT concept here). While the ideas behind The Bird Men of Patagonia were generated before and separately from AH.com, without the site they might've gone in a VERY different direction and, without this site as motivation, I probably would've never written it.

So, I'd be less of a writer and generally poorer intellectually, overall. I probably would've found another website to hang out at, but who knows where my personality would've gone over the last six years without AH.com (probably would've turned into much more of an anime nerd).

Outside me? No CF.net and no HA.com, for a couple.

Then HA.com may very well have never existed in turn.

I would know nothing of the WorldWar series.

And I could very well have been far less mature online than I am IOTL - on second thoughts, that's an absolute certainty. :)

No Afrikanerverse fiction for me, plus I'd know a whole lot less about a wide variety of topics.

And I wouldn't have met some British people my age who were actually friendly in 2006 when I studied abroad.

However, I would probably have a LOT more time for other purposes.

Well there wouldn't be a CF.net, no IDU, no HA.com, or a Bacchanallia. I wouldn't know as much as I do now (which is still very little) about say Mesoamerica or the Hellenistic world, outside of playing vanilla Rome Total War every Saturday and Sunday afternoon :)roll eyes:). I would probably still be a member at KHInsider though come to think of it, I doubt it. That place was and still is a terrible place. Ooh! And I would register at Total War Center a lot earlier to satisfy my desire for history and politics.

My interest in the subject is probably butterflied (I stumbled across the genre online by random chance) and I'm probably still addicted to something like Football Manager or Facebook (assuming those things are still around). *shudder*
