WI: Nikola Tesla employed by Austria?

Tesla doesn't emigrate and instead serve the Austrian crown, would there be any noticeable difference to Austrian technologies? Would there also be any difference in American technologies?

Okay, not a specialist for Tesla in any way.

However I kinda object to "Austrian technologies" and "American technologies" in the context of the globalized world of the 19th century. Sure details of used technology did vary some, but the underlying scientific principals were quickly spread worldwide.

Tesla working for the Austrian crown? ASB if you take that statement literally. The Austrian crown never kept a stable of scientists in the way they did with musicians and painters. Not to mention that Franz Josef didn't care all that much for the arts or sciences.

The closest you'd find are the employees of the Austrian crown would be working at one of the Universities. However even a quick perusal of his biography will show that he didn't make the best impression when he attended those.

So I'll leave a question: What uniquely "American" technology did Tesla develop? I can't think of any. All those I'm aware of that Tesla was involved with spread world wide very quickly. If you can think of any you'd have the answer to half your questions.
