I guess have Ernst Rohm get tipped off and successfully assassinate Hitler while the SS hits air when they try to scoop him up. The thing is the military will turn on the SA hard once Hitler is gone. They know that they will not survive a Rohm led Germany.
If they know what's happening. The whole thing seems to very internal to the Nazi party, except Hitler also executes conservative leaders so there is possible spin. Blomberg had previously had a good relationship with the SA and Fritsch is a bit of a technocrat.
If they move decisively then the army might win but its quite small at this point and a lot of the new recruits ( around 1/3 of the total) probably have an SA background and they may delay.
A lot will depend on who is better organised for a coup. Killing Hitler is just the start , then you have to seize the radio stations, Hindenburg, non SA Nazis. Whether that happens in hours or over months is a good question.
Hindenburg dies on 2 August, at the time there was a forex crisis
