WI: Nickelodeon picks up Adventure Time

From Wikipedia:
Federator Studios then pitched an Adventure Time series to Nicktoons Network, which rejected it twice.[17] Eventually, Nicktoons' rights to commission a full series expired, and Frederator—the short's production animation studio—pitched it to other channels.[18] One of the studios that Frederator approached was Cartoon Network, which said it would be willing to produce a series if Ward could prove the short could be expanded into a full series while maintaining elements of the pilot.

So, what if Nick picks up Adventure Time for a full series? Does Cartoon Network continue with CN Real? Or do they find another cartoon to fill in Adventure Time's niche?

Ooh, recent stuff!

I really love Adventure Time for all it's worth, as it started during my developmental years, but I don't think that it's gonna hit 90s-level popularity just by itself. If it's the only big thing that Nick picks up, I'd see it turning into a sort of middle ground of popularity between SpongeBob and Avatar. Has mainstream appeal, but doesn't have support.

OTOH, Cartoon Network would definitely take the hit. If Regular Show goes as OTL, it could slightly recover the gap that exists ATL due to Adventure Time being on Nick. But there would have to be another show.

Either that, or Gumball takes the place. ATL Western animation would be interesting.
