WI: New Year's in Season Other Than Winter

I wasn't sure which forum this thread belonged to, so I posted it here. What if New Year's began in any season other than Winter? I imagine the specific months would be April for Spring, July for Summer, and October for Autumn. Would this affect the date of Christmas at all, or would Christmas remain the same as OTL?

Other cultures have new years in other seasons. Even for western Europe it's not a thing we've always done, used to be in spring.
Personally I kinda like the idea of having it at the vernal equinox.

The effect on Yule/christmas ought to be very slim, some traditions might end up different but i don't see any reason it'd be markedly different. Christmas is about the solstice, new years isn't (it's about a function of the calendar we use).

In South Africa New Years' isn't in the winter :)

But I imagine the date of Christmas wouldn't be affected - since that was decided apart from when the New Year began (namely the Christian co-opting of the Feast of Sol Invictus (the Unconquered Sun) which fell on Midwinter's Day (December 25) IIRC).

ISTR reading that when Pyotr the Great changed the Russian calendar in the 18th century it caused an outrage, since if the New Year fell in January (?) what did the snake tempt Eve with? Apples don't grow in the midst of winter (heresy!)
