This is my first altered timeline, and it is not that big of a scale.

What would have happened to the Netherlands and her colonies in WW2 and the immediate aftermath?

I'll first make some changes in the time line. By changing the militairy position of the Netherlands and her colonie

It is the late 1898, and the Dutch government has finally realized, that their Military and Navy was no match to ether the French, English or German navy and army. This was considered a problem. (even in the real time line)
As a result the plans for updating and enlarging the army and navy, were begun to be drawn.
This however had to be done somewhat in secret, so the States General said, they wanted their own submarines, like the U-Boats. These ships would later on be known as the OM (Onderwater Moord - underwater death - unterwasser mord). These OM were large submarines, about twice the length of the U-Boats. She was faster and more gun turrets (that hide in a special hould when underwater) and more torpedoes onboard, but had one major fault, her diesel engines.

A nicely designed ship, but how to make it in secret. The answer was found shortly after the designs were totally completed. The Indies!! That was the right place. Because of these plans het KNIL also had to be enlarged and a better naval force was to be created in the Indies.
The Indies was seen by the UK as a place that could be most beneficial to their Empire. This was also the great reason for the non military changes that were started there. The Indonesian and Dutch people were compelled to go to school until the age of 16, by the new law that recently passed trough the States General.

The school systems were changed to make each and every Dutch citizen extremely nationalistic. And the Indonesian people were taught to follow the Dutch and not question them, this was only possible because of the newly created apartheid system. The Dutch Empire now had three types of citizenships, a type 1 for the true Dutch and those Surinamers, Antilleans and Indonesians with more then a quarter of Dutch blood and those that earned it by helping the state, a type 2 for all born Surinamers, Antilleans and Indonesians with less then a quarter of Dutch blood, and a type 3 for the black people.
These reformations made the Dutch Empire more powerful.

It is now 1910 and the new shipyard is ready, its located in the Indonesian jungle and its only way of getting supplies is by submarine. It is heavily, it is hidden underground for the most part with jungle over the specially designed roof. There were more of these bases being built all over the Dutch empire, only hidden in a different way.
These bases proved to be exactly what would be needed in WW2 (for the Dutch Empire stays neutral during the first).
The new ODs were being created in large numbers and even were the normal surface sea warships (though the surface ones were built mostly in Rotterdam). The army had been enlarged to about 50 thousand men, and the navy was outmanned by the Royal Navy (GB) only 3(Royal Navy) to 1(Dutch Royal Navy).
Because airplanes were in very few numbers there was nothing to accommodate them just jet. But during WW1 when the airplane starts to become more common, a launch platform the size of that of a modern Nimitz carrier is being designed to be built next to the shipyard and change it to a full military base instead of just a fortified shipyard
The RNLAF had been enhanced and given more funding. It started to grow exponentially.
Most of the Dutch Royal Navy is located in the Indies, and there for not a great concern for the UK especially because they have had friendly relations for years.

Take into account that the Dutch have built about 6 of these bases with the airfield and equip them with Zero like plains made by Fokker and a few good bombers. And have a navy that is 3 Royal Navy – 1 Dutch Royal Navy. With more powerful submarines included. And an army of about 50000-75000 man. This does not include the KNIL and her navy and air force. In the Indies there is a large militairy presence and the Indonesian people fully support the Dutch.

What would have happened to the Netherlands and her colonies in WW2 and the immediate aftermath? Would they have been able to keep up longer? Would the Jappo's and Nazi's have invaded or would they not...
