What if the Roman government fully backed Nestorius and he and his theological views prevailed against Cyril?

Nestorius was a Patriarch of Constantinople who lost a power struggle to Cyril, Patriarch of Alexandria, with the result that his views and those of his mentors and followers, over the divinity and humanity of Christ, were repeatedly condemned as heretical. One possibly minor complication is that its never been that clear how his views really differed from what became Catholic (and Protestant) and Orthodox teachings, particularly after modern day research had been done.

Both Nestorius and his followers appealed to the government, and suppose the Emperor had given Nestorius his full backing? Note the IOTL Council of Chalcedon slapped down Cyril's followers and teaching while still maintaining that the Nestorians were heretics.
