Following his re-election in 2004, George W. Bush sorta backed off of the more hardline neoconservative rhetoric and policy when it came to foreign policy, ousting Rumsfeld (in favor of a more realist Defense Secretary, Bob Gates) and a lot of the other neoconservatives he listened to pretty closely in his first term.

What if, then, he didn't? What if instead of shifting course and adopting a more neorealist point of view, Bush kept with the more stringent neoconservatism of his first term?
