WI Neoconservatives have more sway in second Bush term?

Following his re-election in 2004, George W. Bush sorta backed off of the more hardline neoconservative rhetoric and policy when it came to foreign policy, ousting Rumsfeld (in favor of a more realist Defense Secretary, Bob Gates) and a lot of the other neoconservatives he listened to pretty closely in his first term.

What if, then, he didn't? What if instead of shifting course and adopting a more neorealist point of view, Bush kept with the more stringent neoconservatism of his first term?

If you want fireworks, have the 2008 Georgia crisis happen earlier in his term.

iirc Cheney vowed to support Georgia against the Russians and was in favor of sending material and/or push NATO to back it in the conflict. If the Neocons have their way, well, shit hits the fan fast.

Proxy war with Russia?

It´s probably cheaper to invade Syria rather than Iran. But money never seemed to be the issue.
