WI:Nelson Rockefeller in 1960?

I've taken a interest in Nelson Rockefeller, and was wondering what it would be like if he was the Republican nominee in 1960. So I've got a few questions to get the ball rolling...

1)How can Rockefeller beat Nixon for the nomintion?

2)Who would be his running mate?

3)Would the Democrats still nominate Kennedy and Johnson?

4) How would the race have gone down?Would Rockefeller win?

5) If he wins, what would his Presidency look like?

Your thoughts?:)

TR: this topic has been done to death, but I'll answer anyways. ;)

1) Rocky cannot beat Nixon for the nomination- he is too liberal for the GOP, anytime between 1960 and 1976. Arguably Rocky is to the Kennedys' left, or at least with them at the centre, on economics. As Nixon wrote in his memoirs "... being much closer in policy terms to the Democrats."

4) Assuming such an implausible scenario occurs, JFK acknowledged to Ben Bradlee IOTL that he would've lost to Rockefeller.

Nixon had the loyalty of the GOP's rank-and-file through a mound of IOUs he'd accumulated during his eight years as VP, and Rocky cannot match that. The only way to deny Nixon the 1960 GOP nomination is to kill or incapacitate him.
