WI: NDP win the 2011 canadian federal election?

In the 2011 election, the NDP (New Democratic Party), Canada's perennial "third party" came the closest it's ever been to winning a federal election in it's entire history, beating the Liberals, all but annihilating the BQ, and coming in a close second to the Conservatives. So what if they had done a little better, or what if the Conservatives had done a little worse, and the NDP actually rose to the government position?

I think it depends how much they win by. Do they get a majority (highly improbable) or a minority (semi-plausible)?

I'd say a minority is more likely considering the 3 to 5 party system that's dominated Canadian politics since the 1920s. Supply and confidence would most likely come from the Liberals, considering that the Conservatives are on the opposite end of the political spectrum, and the other parties didn't do well enough to support a coalition.

Then my guess is a very moderate NDP not too far to the left of the Liberals as support would probably be rather weak, especially if the Liberals end up electing Justin as leader and Layton still loses his battle with cancer. That would leave the Liberals thinking they can win the next election probably, so their support would be very fickle indeed.
