In November 1793, with the French Revolution well underway, a civic religion know as the Cult of Reason, which had grown under the support and guidance of French revolutionaries Jacques Herbert, Joseph Fouche and many other notables that belonged to the Hebertist faction within the convention, had planned for a massive "Festival of Reason" to take place in Paris, within Notre Dame.

The rest of the Convention members (Jacobins and Girondists) had received invitations to the event but most refused to take part (lead mostly by Robespierre's hatred of the philosophy)

The then reported scandalous depravities that took place at the event eventually led to the public denunciation of the movement and the Hebertist faction, and the execution of the many leading attendees in the following year.

So what if the Jacobins and Girondists (including Robespierre) had actually attended?

What effects would their presence at the event have on each of their respective political careers?

Could the Hebertists have survived as a political force long term? Could the Cult of Reason?
