WI: Napoleon remains in power

In Simon Scarrow's novel 'The fields of Death' one of Napoleon's staff officers informs him that Great Britain and Austria would support a cessation of hostilities from the sixth coalition if he withdraws to his borders. Does anyone have any material on this and what would the possible side effects be? Additionally how would this affect Hannover, important for my TL.

Well, probably Napoleon if accepted separated terms with Austria maybe he could win at Lispia, but probably he will be forced to evacuate most of Germany in the end to face the British invasion from Spain. I guess in order to get peace with the sixth coalition he must renounced also to Spain and Poland, probably to restore the Papal State ( even if only in Latium, and reorganizating the KoI towards a French-Italian union ( with Two Sicilies still indipendent ). So Napoleon will retained control of Holland, Italy, maybe Westfalia...

It's fantasy - it was an Austrian proposal aiming at leaving a weakened (behind the Rhine) Napoleonic France which would be indebted to Austria for saving it from the British and the Russians.

The British were hell-bent on replacing Napoleon at all costs.

Metternich was playing games to try to establish a France-Austria axis dominated by Austria as a counterweight to Russia (Prussia wasn't really a factor at this time).

Napoleon would not have kept any part of Italy and although he may have kept parts of Belgium, Holland would be reestablished.
