In OTL, Mussolini's state was the "kinder, gentler" version of Fascism (at least in comparison to NAZI Germany). Would it be possible for the German Fascists to totally emulate Italy's political apparatus?
Perhaps an alternate fascist Germany might be:
- restored, militarist Kaiserreich (the Weimar crowd are still beaten down, boogeyman still found to limit freedoms and political parties)
-irredentist claims satisfied: rhineland remilitarized, Anschluss, Sudetenland (and gov't still rolls the dice on occupying Bohemia - Moravia).
-hostility between Poland and Germany provokes war, ends w/situation OTL (Germany finds modus vivendi with Russia like OTL?)
-Low Countries, France pummeled; BEF gets away, although w/a lot more casualties.
-Malta, Egypt, and middle east are swept away from British Empire (as some have posited on different threads on this board)
-Stalin tries to pull a fast one on Germany/Italy by invading eastern Europe and declaring war, but Stalin's armies die in the Carpathians and the plains of Poland. Blitzkrieg on the Eastern Front leads to Germany in Moscow by 1944, accepting Russian surrender. Ukraine, Cossacks, Baltic states, and caucasus peoples (plus Germany's other european allies) helped in killing the Russian bear.
-1945: Germany reorganizes the East: Kurland, the Crimea, and certain other choice morsels are added to the Reich. The Baltic states are in close "personal union" with Germany; Ukraine, the Caucasus, etc. are nominally independent but rely heavily upon Germany.
