WI: Mormon Church Never Practices Polygamy

Let’s say, for whatever reason, Joesph Smith is adamantly opposed to polygamy and is very vocal about this. So, the church never practices it.
 
There would be less animosity. They would still face persecution due to their abolitionist views and their sympathy for indigenous people.

The rest of the country didn't approve of polygamy but it was just as much a club to use against them as it was a reason for opposition.

Tbh, the mormon church (particularly the early years) was pretty happy to flipflop on abolition and other issues. Its sympathy for natives was also somewhat poor, as demonstrated by their treatment of the timpanago people (including the forced servitude towards the survivors).
