WI: more successful Hanthawaddy Rebellion (1740-1757)

What if the Restored Hanthawaddy Kingdom, which briefly broke off from Burma in the 18th century, didn't have such an incompetent military leadership? IOTL, the rebel armies went far enough as to even capture Ava, but a premature retreat under the illusion of victory, leaving little troops to defend the north, allowed the northern burmese to found a new dynasty (Konbaung), which quelled the Restored Hanthawaddy Kingdom in 1757.
Had the Mon of Hanthawaddy been more cautious of their successes, i could see them founding an independent state in the Irawaddy delta. Considering that this state had the support of the french, could we see some sort of proxy rivalry between french-backed Hanthawaddy and british-backed northern Burma?
If Burma stays disunited, i could also see Thailand exploiting them. Perhaps a Hanthawaddy-Thai alliance?

Burma is one of the least known regions of the world on AH.com so I don't see you getting much discussion in this thread. On the bright side, this means that threads you make will just be empty instead of being overwhelmed with hordes of people spouting cliches and bad, outdated, shallow history. Personally, I love to see relatively unexplored regions discussed here but people need something to go on. If you want to, reading scholarly books and articles on the subject will help you explain the background of the topic. This will make people interested instead of just ignoring the thread. Most people will ask questions instead of contributing meaty feedback since they won't know anything on the topic but they'll appreciate your contributions . See @My Daichingtala / @Ngabdulkamit's follower in their posts and threads. He goes into a lot of detail on SE Asia, a neglected region in general here. Of course, that also means he has to put in more effort than most posters. Maybe he'll drop by this thread when/if he returns.
