The late 60's were a time of violence, peace, and violence in the name of peace in America. Civil Rights Movements, war in Vietnam, these were just a few excuses for protests, riots and shootings. The American government did their best to handle the situation, but what if they went a little too far...
If one of the 'organizations' of the time (the Black Panthers come to the top of my head), grows even higher in numbers, the government might want to do something to break it up, seeing it as a threat to the nation and all. Something like killing the leader of the Black Panthers could cause riots across the nation and wide-spread violence (possibly racial). The hardest hit I think would be New York, Washington DC, and most of the major Californian cities. Do you think that this is possible, and please, go into detail on what else you think might happen.
