WI Montgolfiers have Hydrogen

WI the Montgolfiers corresponded with Cavendish, the discoverer of Hydrogen, and decided to put some in one of their balloons.

Could we eventually see airships in the Napoleonic wars?

IIRC they used hydrogen balloons in the Napoleonic wars. They propulsion problem was the issue with airships, not lift.

No. There is far more to airships than a lighter-than-air gas.

This isn't Alt-hist.
Jacques Alexander started flying hydrogen balloons in 1783. The same year that the Montgolfier brothers flew their hot air balloon.
