WI: Monarchy of Albania restored in 1997

20 years ago, a referendum concerning the restoration of the monarchy in Albania under Leka I of the House of Zogu was held; in 2011, after the death of Leka I, the prime minister of Albania, Sali Berisha, said there had been vote manipulation during the referendum, and that the monarchy should've been restored.

So, what if Albania had become a monarchy back then?

Albania might be more stable and probably there would be some tourism attraction due the restoration.

Maybe a bit more, though I don't really see much difference in the politics...
Most likely it would've been a constitutional one like the others in Europe...

I do not think much would have changed. A constitutional monarch has limited ability to influence legislative politics. As to tourism remember the monarchy existed from 1928 until the Italian occupation in 1939. There really much time to develop traditions, palaces etc.

I dont see why Albania would be better off by having the monarchy restored. Also what line are we talking about? The line of Prince Wilhelm of Lied? Or of Zogs house?

Well I have actually been to Albania. Zogu is quite a popular figure. It seems a commonly accepted fact that the 1997 poll was in favour but manipulated to show not in favour.
