I had this idea for WW2 scenario in 1939. So let's say the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact never happens or it fails and the Soviets align with the British and the French in a negotiation which did happen in OTL. So in this alternate scenario for heavens sake have Germany invade Poland in August 1939 but the Allies, along with the USSR, declare war on Germany. How would the war go? How would Poland react to letting its feared enemy into the territory for assistance? How powerful would the USSR be against Germany? What would happen to the Western front? What about Italy? How long would the war go? How would this change 20th century timeline?

Would Hitler invade Poland if the Soviets aren’t taken care of? Anyway, to answer the question, Germany loses, fast.

The Germans are going to be forced to commit to a defensive war in the West. Polish forces won't fare any better in the initial stages of the war, and will continue to fall back. Germans will take Warsaw.

The Soviet Army is still reeling from the purges, and considering their effectiveness against the Finns, I cannot imagine them doing well to start the war. Its not impossible that the Germans can reach Minsk/Kiev before 1940. Though it won't be long before Germany is against the wall.

With British and French forces aiming for the Rhine, the British Navy bottling up the Germans in the North Sea, and the Soviet/Polish forces halting the Germans probably around the Dvina-Dnieper river lines. The war will be over absolutely no later than 1941.

Italy isn't joining the War, unless they join with the British and French to invade Austria.
