Another post someone put up got me thinking of Pontus, so i thought i'd put this up. Also i just ready Pompey by Nic Fields, which has some stuff on Mithridates.
What if Mithridates VI invaded Italy? The year 63 BC, Mithridates is in the Crimea and plotting a comeback. His plan is to raise an army of Scythians, march round the Black Sea, up the Danube across the Alps and attack the heart of the Roman Republic, all the while recruiting Gauls and what not to his banner. Keep in mind this scenario of course implies that his son does not betray him and instead lends a hand.
For the scenario lets pretend that Mithridates is able to arrive in Italy with a sizable army, could he win?
