WI: Michael Jackson joins the 27 Club?

So let's say Michael Jackson gets hit by a train or something at the height of his career, in 1985, thus joining the 27 club. How does this affect his legacy? I assume he's much better remembered than OTL.

Much more positive enduring fame. These days, the claims of pedophilia, as well as his final days have ruined his image. Not to mention the changes... the man was terrifying to behold towards the end.

The answer is as easy as A, B, C! It's easy as one, two, three, as simple as
Do, re, mi ...
He is remembered as the divine and eternal KING OF POP and THRILLER OF THE AGES!

At the time? "ZOMGMICHAELOHITSSOTRAGICHEWASTHEKINGOFPOPFOREVA!!!!!!!!"

Twenty-six years later? "Michael Jackson, huh? I like his adult solo stuff. He was kind of a big deal thirty years ago, wasn't he?"

I wonder if this could affect the careers of artists like Akon and Lady Gaga, who site him as one of their influences. This is assuming the butterflies from Jackson's death don't prevent their musical careers in the first place.

One thing you can be sure of is that TTL's alternatehistory.com will have quite a few "What If Michael Jackson Had Lived?" threads started. I wonder how his subsequent career will be imagined in the event of his early death and how it will compare to what actually happened?

Lady Gaga has not even been born yet, so I think it is safe to say that at least her music career will be nonexistent.
