WI: Michael Jackson doesn't catch fire.

In 1984, the King of Pop got third grade burns due to his hair catching fire during the filming of a Pepsi commercial. He then had to undergo surgery and take painkillers to cure them, but he became addicted to both in the years to come, even because the symptoms of the burns never faded away completely. We all know that medicine addiction and the conditions in which his body was were a major factor in his recent death. He is still likely to suffer from a severe case of vitiligo nonetheless, but maybe he would deal with it in a different way that OTL, due to his dependency on medical treatments not taking place? Alternate developments of his musical career and personal life? Would the child molestation issues arise or they will be butterflied away? He still would be a strange guy - being beaten and abused by a father, and witnessing his brothers fucking random women are not things that would keep the mind clean - but how his life will be different?

It's hard to say. I think most of the changes with aesthetics-wise. Mentally, he's just as messed up as OTL. He will look better though, so there is that. ;)

I always wondered what would happen if Jackson's vitiligo was prevented somehow (either a minor change at his birth or something else).

By 1984 Michael Jackson had already had at least two rhinoplasties. If you look at his nose circa "Blame It on the Boogie" you'd see it actually is very large and flared, then around "Rock With You" and the Thriller album cover it's a much more normal size that suits his face much better, and then in the "Thriller" music video it's shrunk again and now looks disproportionately small.

I don't think you can blame the fire.
