WI MD-11 was more successful?

In OTL the MD-11 passenger version failed because MD, in the interest of economy, kept the DC-10 wing which was too small. Thereby having high takeoff speeds, long takeoff run, and 700 nm less range than calculated. If MD had spent the money on a new wing, how would this affect the ULH market today?

Probably not that much, unless MDD goes on with the big version of the MD-11 I've read about. It was supposed to be a competitor to the short-lived 747-300(so we'd get a 3-engined 777-300 equivalent in the late 80's-early 90's). The thing is, I'm not sure it would be feasible - I'm not sure there would be engines powerful enough for that back then, for one thing.
