WI: McGovern re-elected in 1980

South Dakota Senator and 1972 presidential candidate George Stanley McGovern doesn't lose his Senate seat in 1980 during the Reagan Revolution. Does he run again in 1986, 1992, etc? Does he remain in the Senate for the rest of his life or does he retire? If so, when? Does he lose re-election? Does he redeem himself? Do his later presidential runs have more credibility? Does he become more revered as an elder statesman? Do the Democrats forgive him?

Lots of fun questions and interesting potential effects on the U. S. Senate and perception of McGovern's career.
