Interesting enough while going through a old 1966 pamphlet about the history of the Eastern Shore of Maryland during the Civil War (Titled "The Despots Heel is On Thy Shore") it gave interesting info on both sides of the conflict. Namely that the state despite apperances and his abundance of slaves and artistocrats favored the South and North equally. Also another tidbit.
"...Eastern Shore had made no less then five attempts to secede from the state of Maryland. Most of these efforts were to the Shore counties to the State of Delaware, and Delaware would have liked it".
