WI: Mary Queen of Scots ratifies the Treaty of Edinburgh?

To those who know the history of the famous Queen of Scots, the Treaty of Edinburgh is well-known, but for those who aren't well versed, it was a treaty that was designed to replace the historical Auld Alliance with a new Anglo-Scottish accord. The terms included the withdrawal of French forces from Scotland, the cessation of the use of the arms and signs of England and Ireland in the heraldry of Francis II and Mary Queen of Scots and the official recognition of Elizabeth I as Queen of England. Though the French did withdraw their troops from Scotland, Mary famously refused to ratify the treaty, because she viewed the Scottish Lords who negotiated the treaty as rebels and traitors and because it officially recognized Elizabeth I as Queen of England.

So what if Mary HAD ratified the treaty? Perhaps in late 1561 or early 1562 as a goodwill gesture in the run up to the canceled meeting between the Queens in either York or Nottingham? So what would the effects of the ratification be? Would we see less English support for those who opposed Mary? Would there be a meeting between Elizabeth and Mary? Would, if she is still deposed, Mary be held under house arrest in England? Would she get English support for her Restoration? Would she still be executed?

If Mary ratified the Treaty, it would have seriously eroded the Catholic cause in Scotland, hampered her hopes of the English throne and strengthened the position of her enemies domestically. There was no reason for her to want to sign it.

Why would you say that? The Catholic cause in Scotland was already destroyed. The French had already withdrawn from Scotland so there was no one there to prop up Catholicism. Why would it damage her claim to England. If anything it would strengthen the claim, in Elizabeth's eyes at least. I mean Mary being willing to acknowledge Elizabeth as Queen can't hurt her position in Engand nor would it really strengthen her enemies in Scotland. Its not like she's renouncing the Scottish throne. Hell it might weaken her enemies. With the treaty signed Elizabeth might stop offering support to the Scottish opposition, thus weakening them.
