WI: Mary of Burgundy decided to marry local aristocrat?

What if Mary of Burgundy, the only child of Charles the Bold, decided that enough is enough and she don't want to marry neither Hapsburg nor Valois, and decide to become a "A mother of nation" and marry some local skilled politician instead (I think about Johann V of Nassau). Is there any chance that her realm would be able to survive between France and Austria?

IMHO not going to happen, since France is a far too great threat to face on her own.
It turned out in a love match historically; I've read Mary & Maximilian were wed by the first priest they could find :D.
However Burgundy needed the Habsburgs and by extension the (H.R.) Empire to stand a chance against France, which already from the Burgundian POV had ''stolen'' part from her inheritance (most prominently ducal Burgundy proper).

What about Johann V's older brother Englebert II of Nassau? He was a patron of the arts. Would Mary be successful if she wed Englebert II?
