The Battle of Wavre took place on the same day as Waterloo and was a battle that pitted 33,000 French soldiers under Marshal Emmanuel de Grouchy against 17,000 Prussian soldiers under Johann von Thielmann and Carl von Clausewitz, respectively.
While the French won the actual battle tactically, the battle itself held down 33,000 French troops who could have been used at Waterloo and the Prussians considered it a strategic victory.
But, what if Grouchy had not had fought Thielmann and Clausewitz? What if Grouchy went and joined Napoleon against the Duke of Wellington or for that matter for fought Blucher's Prussian reinforcements?
How might have the Battle of Waterloo changed, if it changed at all?
