WI: Mansa Kassa Lives?

Mansa Kassa died less than a year from ascending the throne, and was succeeded by Mari Djata II, who bankrupted the Empire. So what if he never rose to power because Kassa lived long enough to have a son rather than his cousin succeeding him?

I would think that the Malian Empire would not weaken as badly as one of the main causes of the Empire's decline would be gone.

Not an expert on Mali myself, but I have heard that a lot of them blame the famous Mansa Musa for bankrupting the empire as well. Seriously, dude was just throwing gold everywhere in Cairo.

He did not throw away nearly as much gold as his suscessors, esp. Mari Djata II. Musa also added to the culture and knowlage of Timbuktu by bringing scholars back to Sancore. He also built the The Djinguereber Mosque.
