WI: Magnus Maximus wins, Theodosius dies?

As above. I'd like it to be as as clean win as possible, so let's say that Theodosius dies in accident (real one)when Maximus is met with Theodosius forces in 383. When it becomes apparent that Theodosius is dead, his troops defect to Maximus who now only has to deal with 12 year old Valentinian II...

Most bloodless civil war in Roman history it seems- just 2 deaths (or one if Valentinian isn't killed) :D

I don't know enough about Magnus Maximus to know if he was interested in ruling the whole empire, but perhaps he can install Valentinian in the east under the control a trusted subordinate?

EDIT: More importantly, this has massive implications for the military capacity of the west entering the 5th century. The 2 civil wars with Theodosius wrecked the west's army.

The Roman Empire would split up a lot quicker.
