WI: Magellan survives and makes it back to Spain

What if Ferdinand Magellan survives his circumnavigation trip around the world and makes it back to Spain?

In OTL he was killed in the Philippines by Lapu Lapu in a battle.

One wonders. I mean, his wife and children would be dead by the time he gets back home. And it would be interesting to see the man, first circumnavigator of the globe, lead a third expedition to these islands to carve out a governorship.

Also, these islands would probably not be known as the Philippines, the name given two decades hence when Villalobos came around. Las islas de San Lazaro and las islas de poniente were the names he used. Or perhaps the name Luzon would describe the entire archipelago, considering the Portuguese.

There might be butterflies..

It doesn't fit the mold. Large islands and large groups of islands were named after royal patronage, and the Philippines counts as both.

Las islas Carolinas, perhaps? Or maybe Fernandines, if Charles V & I gets dethroned by butterflies?
