WI: Lyndon B. Johnson dies too? (Collaborative)

NOVEMBER 11, 1963, 1:10 PM

"Terrible news from Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson have been pronounced dead. Johnson died at approximately 12:30 PM, after suffering from multiple shots in the chest. Kennedy was shot in the back, the throat, and his head. Kennedy was pronounced dead at approximately 1:00 PM. The nation mourns. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, John William McCormick, is expected to take the inaugural oath."

Mr McCormack was watching and he was time to be sworn in.

Shockingly he responded with I am too old. I don't think he health will be well enough for a position in a time like this.
 
2:10 PM Shortly after taking the oath of office, John William McCormick issues an order for the entire cabinet return from their overseas flight and return to Washington for an urgent meeting. Suspicious of course that a conspiracy might be about.
 
At 10:11 PM 24 November Senator Dick Russell delivers a eulogy to Lyndon Johnson. "A man like Lyndon Johnson is the ideal model for our country's leaders. He was energetic and a man full of great skill yet every bit of that he utilized towards achieving justice and protecting the rights of Americans. His accomplishments both as Senator and Vice President are endless, and I have no doubt that even after death his deeds will cast a bright light for the future of this nation. A better America and a better World."
 
17 January 1964: The rising star, George Wallace of Alabama announces to a cheering audience that he is running for the Democratic nomination.

The same evening senators, Russel, Thurmond and Byrd advise president, McCormak not to carry through with his plan to try and pass the civil rights act, saying it will alienate Southern voters and ultimately lose them the election. McCormak after a meeting in the oval office the president heeds their advice.
