WI- Lucas Only Made 'Star Wars: A New Hope'

Lucas fired his original editor because the man had ignored Lucas's instructions regarding how the film was supposed to be cut together, and version of the film that was delivered to Lucas was a trainwreck.
Why didn't George spot-check along the way?

Probably, because management is a set of skills. And in particular, it can be hard to find the balance between delegating and dumping.

How about this . .

George goes ahead and makes a whole bunch of experimental films being at peace with the approach of a film having at least a 50% chance of working out. So, there's some duds, and some really good films.

George is happy with other people continuing the Star Wars universe, and he accepts generally the standard percentage that's the norm for someone who's the originator of a series.

And so, we have the best of all worlds! Completed films, but also plenty of room to discuss and debate what Star Wars should really be all about.

Gone Fishin'
No Marvel films. I know it's a cliche in this situation, but it really is the truth. Without the power of the Star Wars tie-in, Marvel will not be able to sustain itself, and will be bought out in the late 70's early 80's.

It also means that we get the fabled Steven Spielberg Star Wars movie.
