As said on the package. The marriage between Louis XIV of France and Maria Theresa of Spain was pushed back 6 months in 1660, in order to allow the future Queen of France to travel during the much more forgiving Summer time. Around this time, the French King's first love, Marie Mancini, was exiled from court and sent to marry the Italian Prince Lorenzo Onofrio Colonna. Now, what I'm suggesting is exactly what Cardinal Mazarin and the Queen Dowager feared would happen, which is that the King would rush to Marie Mancini's side, and potentially marry her.

Now, this is going to cause major issues with Spain, who will rightfully take this as an affront and will most likely attempt to invade France, or claim some piece of land with dubious claims. One thing that also may happen is a marriage between Charles II of England, who was currently unmarried and will later in the ear retake his throne. This might give Charles a successor, and thus prevent the fall of the Stuarts.

Now Marie Mancini was the first love of the Sun King's life, but he most likely would not stay faithful to her. Given that she left her OTL hisband in 1672, ITL she may chose to leave Louis. However, she left Lorenzo Onofrio Colonna due to fear for her life, while with Louis she will most likely just have to know he loves other women. It may change their relationship, and if Charles II of Spain seems happy with Maria Theresa, he may become rude and regretful to his wife.

Here's what I was thinking:
