Randolph Churchill (Winston's dad) was a prominent British politician of the late 19th century, who advocated the cause of 'Tory Democracy' - essentially retaining Tory economic principles while outflanking the Liberals by embracing voting reforms to regain the poor vote. OTL he is best known for making an ill-judged attempt to force his will on the Cabinet only weeks after being made Chancellor of the Exchequer, submitting his resignation to try and force the Prime Minister to reshuffle things to his liking; this backfired, his resignation was accepted, and his frontline political career was over. Supposedly this had a deep impression on the younger Churchill, possibly responsible for his stubborn refusal to give up on his own (many) exiles from frontline politics.

So what if Randolph had judged it better and settled for the Cabinet as it was, serving as the Chancellor for years and perhaps even becoming Prime Minister?
